Tikka Masala vs Butter Chicken: The DifferencesĬhicken tikka masala and butter chicken are two popular recipes that are sometimes confused. Due to its mild and creamy flavor, it is a popular dish in Indian restaurants all over the world and is often a favorite of people who are new to Indian food. A great deal of butter is used to complete the dish, giving it a rich and velvety texture.īutter chicken is usually accompanied by naan bread, rice, or roti. The chicken is then added to the sauce and cooked for a few minutes more to allow the flavors to mingle. The butter chicken sauce is produced with a combination of tomato puree, cream, and spices such as turmeric, cumin, and chili powder. However, instead of being cooked in a tandoor, the chicken is now frequently grilled or pan-fried. After that, the chicken is roasted in a tandoor oven, which imparts a smoky flavor and a slightly burnt texture. Traditional butter chicken is made by marinating boneless chicken pieces in yogurt and spices like garam masala, cumin, coriander, and ginger garlic paste. It is a popular, creamy, and gently spicy dish. Murgh makhani, or butter chicken, is a traditional Indian dish that originated in the Punjab region of India. While there are some similarities between it and butter chicken, there are many important differences between the two recipes that we will discuss in depth in this post. Overall, tikka masala is a traditional Indian dish that has acquired worldwide acclaim for its excellent flavor and adaptability. It can also be cooked with other meats instead of chicken, such as lamb or paneer (an Indian cheese). It’s a versatile recipe that can be tailored to individual tastes by varying the amount of spice or creaminess in the sauce. Tikka masala is popular because of its creamy texture, powerful taste, and spicy kick. After the chicken has been cooked, it is simmered in a creamy tomato-based sauce enriched with extra aromatic spices such as cumin, coriander, and garam masala. It is traditionally made by marinating chicken pieces in a spice and yogurt mixture before grilling them in a tandoor, a traditional clay oven. ![]() ![]() In the case of a curve other than a circle, it is often useful first to inscribe a circle to the curve at a given point so that it is tangent to the curve at that point and “hugs” the curve as closely as possible in a neighborhood of the point ( Figure 3.6). In this case you would need to turn more sharply to stay on the road. In this case you would barely have to turn the wheel to stay on the road. Suppose the road lies on an arc of a large circle. ![]() The smaller the radius of the circle, the greater the curvature. The concept of curvature provides a way to measure how sharply a smooth curve turns. CurvatureĪn important topic related to arc length is curvature. Then, use the relationship between the arc length and the parameter t to find an arc-length parameterization of r ( t ). ![]() The arc-length parameterization also appears in the context of curvature (which we examine later in this section) and line integrals, which we study in the Introduction to Vector Calculus. One advantage of finding the arc-length parameterization is that the distance traveled along the curve starting from s = 0 s = 0 is now equal to the parameter s. Since the variable s represents the arc length, we call this an arc-length parameterization of the original function r ( t ). The vector-valued function is now written in terms of the parameter s. We can then reparameterize the original function r ( t ) r ( t ) by substituting the expression for t back into r ( t ). Suppose that we find the arc-length function s ( t ) s ( t ) and are able to solve this function for t as a function of s. The new parameterization still defines a circle of radius 3, but now we need only use the values 0 ≤ t ≤ π / 2 0 ≤ t ≤ π / 2 to traverse the circle once. For example, if we have a function r ( t ) = 〈 3 cos t, 3 sin t 〉, 0 ≤ t ≤ 2 π r ( t ) = 〈 3 cos t, 3 sin t 〉, 0 ≤ t ≤ 2 π that parameterizes a circle of radius 3, we can change the parameter from t to 4 t, 4 t, obtaining a new parameterization r ( t ) = 〈 3 cos 4 t, 3 sin 4 t 〉. Recall that any vector-valued function can be reparameterized via a change of variables. Ī useful application of this theorem is to find an alternative parameterization of a given curve, called an arc-length parameterization. If ‖ r ′ ( t ) ‖ = 1 ‖ r ′ ( t ) ‖ = 1 for all t ≥ a, t ≥ a, then the parameter t represents the arc length from the starting point at t = a. The formula for the arc-length function follows directly from the formula for arc length:įurthermore, d s d t = ‖ r ′ ( t ) ‖ > 0. If a vector-valued function represents the position of a particle in space as a function of time, then the arc-length function measures how far that particle travels as a function of time. Let’s take this one step further and examine what an arc-length function is. We now have a formula for the arc length of a curve defined by a vector-valued function. This gives a formula for the length of a wire needed to form a helix with N turns that has radius R and height h. Recall Arc Length of a Parametric Curve, which states that the formula for the arc length of a curve defined by the parametric functions x = x ( t ), y = y ( t ), t 1 ≤ t ≤ t 2 x = x ( t ), y = y ( t ), t 1 ≤ t ≤ t 2 is given by ![]() We have seen how a vector-valued function describes a curve in either two or three dimensions. We explore each of these concepts in this section. This is described by the curvature of the function at that point. Or, suppose that the vector-valued function describes a road we are building and we want to determine how sharply the road curves at a given point. We would like to determine how far the particle has traveled over a given time interval, which can be described by the arc length of the path it follows. For example, suppose a vector-valued function describes the motion of a particle in space. In this section, we study formulas related to curves in both two and three dimensions, and see how they are related to various properties of the same curve. 3.3.3 Describe the meaning of the normal and binormal vectors of a curve in space.3.3.2 Explain the meaning of the curvature of a curve in space and state its formula.3.3.1 Determine the length of a particle’s path in space by using the arc-length function. ![]() ![]() Run by the former editor of Game Informer, you'll find worldwide exclusives, but also an interactive media experience unlike any you have seen before. To separate our code we’ll create a helper function called writeLine that will write our voltage readings to a file. The minutes and seconds variables will store how long we have been reading the battery’s voltage and allow us to save this alongside our voltage data to see how long it takes to drain the battery. To read our voltage we use ADC pin as these allow for analogue data (our battery’s voltage) to converted to a digital value by taking a reading of the voltage on the pin. The analogIn variable will store our ADC object which we set to use GPIO pin 26 as this is ADC pin 0. Our code will need some global variables to keep track of our voltage readings. To do this we can use the sleep function from the time library inside of our voltage reading loop. Then while monitoring the voltage of the battery we need to delay the loop so that the voltage readings are taken at regular intervals. To access the Pico's ADC pins we'll use an ADC object from the machine library. As our voltage sensor we’ll use an ADC pin on the Pico. To code the voltmeter we’ll use two imports. The discharge on the battery is actually caused by four resistors we have added in parrallel to the circuit.īelow is the complete circuit diagram for our Raspberry Pi Pico Battery Voltmeter. It is simply going to be measuring the output voltage of the battery as regular intervals. The Pico is not causing the discharge on the battery. In this circuit we are using the Pico to measure the discharge of the battery. Here we add the battery cage negative wire to the negative line on the breadboard and the power wire to the power line on the breadboard. Using four 10 Ω resistors in parallel like this gives the circuit a 2.5 Ω resistance, putting an even greater drain on the battery.įinally, we’ll add the battery cage with the AA battery to the breadboard. Using a low resistance means that lots of current will be able to flow from the battery, and so the battery will drain quicker. Even with high power resistors they will still get hot and shouldn't be touched while the battery is connected, or after the battery has been connected for an extended period of time. We therefore want to use high power resistors to reduce the chance of them breaking while under high load. We use only 10 Ω resistors as we want the load on the battery to be as high as possible. Then using our four jumper wires we'll connect the 10 Ω resistors to the ground line on the other side of the breadboard. Next add the four 10 Ω resistors to the power line on the breadboard. This will link up the ground on the Pico to the battery's negative pin. We also want to connect one of the ground pins on the Pico to the ground line on the breadboard. We want it connecting GPIO 26 on the Pico to the power line on the breadboard. We will need to power the Pico using the USB cable so it is helpful the have the connector easy to access for when we run our tests. To setup the Pico for this project we first place it on one edge of our breadboard with the Micro USB connector facing out. We can read the batteries voltage by connecting it to an ADC pin on the Raspberry Pi Pico. As the battery level drains the voltage output by it is reduced. This project can be used to gather data about how long it takes a AA battery to drain. ![]() In this tutorial we’ll demonstrate how a Raspberry Pi Pico can be used along with some simple electronic components and Python code to record the voltage of a AA battery. ![]() Using a Raspberry Pi Pico to record how long it takes for a battery to drain ![]() |
